Balayage at Taylor Taylor London

11 August 2015

After month's of deciding what I should do with my hair and hours on Pinterest and Instagram I finally decided to go lighter and add in blonde tones. If you've been following me from the start you'll know that I did my first Ombre at home with a £5 Loreal Highlight kit. That was over 2 years ago and since then I had gone over it and had balayage done to refresh it and get rid of any red undertones but still felt like my hair had some copper tones and I just wanted a bit of a change!

I stumbled across Taylor Taylor when I was out one day in Notting Hill and thought it was a cafe from the outside! Once I had realised it was actually a hair salon I found them on Instagram and then found Samantha Cusick on their page, their Senior technician also known as the Queen of balayage!

When I arrived at my appointment I was offered a cocktail from the bar in the salon which I thought was really nice touch to the experience. Samantha was lovely and knew exactly what kind of colour I wanted to go for. After the colour was rinsed out, they used a product called Olaplex which helps to reconnect disulfide sulfur bonds in the hair, which I think means it helps reduce breaking especially when harsh chemicals have been used on the hair. They then used a toner for any yellow or copper tones. Samantha used a straightener to create beach waves on my hair and the colour just looked so well blended and natural, it was the perfect 'bronde' look.

It took me a few days to get used to my lighter hair and I have used purple shampoo a couple times since to bring out the cool tones. My hair is only slightly dryer at the ends and that is probably my own fault as I need to get it cut but I have been using Aussie conditioner to keep it looking healthy!

I don't about you guys but I'm really funny when it comes to trusting people with my hair and it took me such a long time to find someone that I knew would achieve what I wanted! I definitely recommend booking an appointment with Samantha Cusick at Taylor Taylor Portobello Road - stalk her Instagram to see more of her work. If you're quick you might even get to meet her adorable English Bulldog puppy at the salon!

p.s I'm already tempted to go back for a choppy midi cut and more blonde!
