Sofitel Legend Amsterdam The Grand

20 June 2016

Last weekend I had the pleasure of staying at Sofitel Legend The Grand, a beautiful historical hotel in Amsterdam. I'd seen photos online before but the hotel is even more grand and luxurious in real life. From the moment we arrived the service was outstanding, everyone was so friendly and helpful.

Sofitel Legend is located in the centre of Amsterdam, just a 5 minute walk from Dam Square. As you guys know I've been to Amsterdam a few times but I had never experienced staying that close to the centre where everything was within walking distance.

The lobby was bright with marble floors, high ceilings and pink flowers. The hotel offers a unique butler service depending on which room you stay in, since we were booked in to the Prestige Suite we were assigned a butler called Domingo who greeted us with the biggest smile at concierge and showed us to our room. Domingo was so kind and helpful and gave us his extension number to call if we needed anything. Although we didn't really use the butler service it was nice to know that we were being looked after.

As I was travelling with my boyfriend and friend we were given the Prestige Suite which consisted of a spacious lounge with big windows overlooking the canal and townhouses. Through the hallway was the bathroom and the main bedroom. The bathroom had a rain shower as well as a bath tub with a TV in the wall! Both the bathroom and spa were stocked with Herm├Ęs shampoo, conditioner and soap. If you follow me on snapchat you would've seen a tour of the room and hotel (seydakarim).

In the evening we got into our fluffy white robes and down to the So Spa to use the sauna/steam room and jacuzzi. It was empty so we had the whole spa to ourselves. There was also a Technogym which we all wanted to use in the morning but were too lazy to actually go!

The bed was so comfortable which made it so hard getting up the next morning! Once we finally got up we ordered breakfast from the menu provided. We didn't realise how much we had ordered until it arrived, from pastries and pancakes to smoked salmon and fresh bread. Everything was so delicious, I definitely recommend the waffles!

Before checking out we were given a tour around the hotel by the head butler, Mauricio. We were shown around some of the other suites and the canal house which was an apartment with it's own private entrance. They also had some new modern suites decorated with marble and copper which were not available for us to see but I can only imagine how amazing they are! We were shown the garden terrace, a tranquil courtyard filled with plants and water features, the perfect place to have lunch or dinner from one of the 3 restaurants in the hotel.

I honestly can't praise this hotel enough, it was the best hotel experience I've ever had, I already can't wait to go back! If you're looking for a hotel with beautiful design, amazing service and central location I would definitely recommend it. The friendly and accommodating staff made our stay so special and enjoyable.
